Project overview
Dated Oak to Modern Classic
The homeowners loved their Park Hill kitchen's layout but not its honey-oak cabinets and beige walls. Replacement quotes topped $40,000 with six weeks of demolition — so they called Kestrel for a refinish instead.
The challenge
Greasy buildup near the range, worn finish around pulls, and oak grain the homeowners wanted hidden for a smooth modern look — all while keeping the kitchen usable through the project.
Our approach
We degreased every surface twice, applied grain filler to the oak, sprayed a bonding primer plus two coats of 2K urethane enamel in a soft warm white, and paired it with a sage accent wall. Doors cured off-site while boxes were finished in place; the family kept a working kitchenette setup throughout.
Scope
28 doors & drawers, island, pantry wall, sage accent wall, new hardware fit.
Products
2K urethane cabinet enamel, bonding primer, low-VOC wall paint in washable eggshell.
Result
A remodel look at a third of replacement cost — "guests assume it's brand new."
